Mueller, Micheal Robert passed away early Monday, September 12 in Minneapolis at age 79. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; mother, Josie and stepfather Wally Landberg. Micheal is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley. Mike and Shirley's blended family includes his three children, Tracey (Rick) Peterson, Renee (David) Roble and Michael (Barbara) Mueller; three stepchildren, Christina (Terry) Stark, Ann (Marty Bethke) Bach and Peter (Kari) Hanson; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Born a natural athlete, Mike excelled in any sport he applied his competitive spirit towards. Mike was a star in football, basketball, and track at Hopkins High School. His true athletic prowess was the boxing ring where he won the Golden Gloves Upper Midwest Middleweight Champion title in 1960. Instead of pursuing athletics Mike transitioned into a restaurateur. At the age of 25 he purchased his first of several restaurants, Hoagies, at 42nd St. and Cedar Ave S. He then moved Hoagies to its current location on Main Street in Hopkins and successfully opened Lyn-Lake Café as well as Gold Mine (Gold Nugget) of Glen Lake shortly thereafter. The most recent (33 years ago) endeavor, Snuffy's Malt Shop, endures and thrives to this day. Mike was a fair, honest business man who modeled hard work and loyalty to hundreds of employees and business associates throughout a 50+ year career. While Mike was proud of his business success it was his family that motivated him. He was a constant and consistent presence at all family events and competitions, always encouraging and inspiring. Every member of his family has a story to tell of his love and support. Mike is loved and respected and his memory will be cherished by his large family, many friends, countless employees and business associates he leaves behind. His celebration of life is planned for Monday, September 26, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, September 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy, Edina Chapel, and one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers: Mike Mueller Memorial Fund, 244 Cleveland Ave S, St. Paul, MN 55105. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996 West 50th St. & Hwy 100
