White, Donald C. Saint Paul native recently residing in Apple Valley, passed away July 29, 2016 after a remarkable 92-year journey. Preceded in death by Lois, beloved wife of 69 years. Survived by children Terry (Madonna), Jeffrey (Teresa) and Susan (David Jarzyna); grandchildren Anne (Nick Ingles), Alison, Jeffrey, Andrew; great grandson Oliver. Also other relatives and friends. He was a Navy pilot during WWII flying TBF Avenger bombers and participated in naval air campaigns at Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Lingayen Gulf. He was awarded six air medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and a gold star. Don continued to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve at the Minneapolis Naval Air Station and ended his 23-year Navy career as commanding officer of a reserve squadron flying F9F Panther jets and retiring with the rank of Lt. Commander. Don's rich life included a 35-year career with Morton Salt Company. Private service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Disabled American Veterans (dav.org).
