Hyatt, Mark S. March 1, 1969 - May 4, 2016 Mark Steven Hyatt died from depression and suicide on May 4, 2016 at the age of 47. Mark was born on March 1, 1969 in Alexandria, MN to Henry & Mary Hyatt. He attended high school in Cyrus, MN, studied graphic art at Willmar Vo-Tech College and Information Technology at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. Mark was a talented artist and musician who played the bass guitar and keyboards in the alternative band View Master as well as a cover band. He enjoyed pool and dart leagues at the old CC Club and grilling in the backyard with friends. He was also an avid cyclist, making two cross country bike trips to the west coast. Mark will always be remembered as a kind, patient, funny, sensitive, gentle and loving person. He had a great sense of humor and a deep concern for the welfare of others, even as he suffered from his own quiet but powerful depression. One of the most difficult but meaningful things he did in his life was to care for his mother so she could remain in her home until her death. He is greatly missed by his friends, family and his long-time partner, Theresa Andrus. We are heartbroken that depression overwhelmed the joy and the laughter in Mark's life, and made it so hard for him to see all of the wonderful things that we loved about him. We will remember him most for the life he lived rather than the way that he died. Mark is survived by his significant other, Theresa Andrus of Minneapolis, MN; his father, Henry Hyatt and his wife, Arlou, of Alexandria, MN; three brothers, Jeff Hyatt of Cyrus, MN, Todd Hyatt and wife, Wendy, of Farwell, MN and Curt Hyatt and significant other, Michelle Huemoeller, of Hoffman, MN; three sisters, Lynn Bright and husband, Richard, of Morris, MN, Lori Hyatt of Alexandria, MN and Dawn Visser of Minneapolis, MN; and nine nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise (Dickopf) Hyatt and grandmother, Evelyn Graff. A funeral is scheduled for noon, Friday, August 5, 2016 at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN. Jay Binnebose will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mark's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Anxiety and Depression Assoc. of America (adaa.org).
