Nelson, Jon M. "Swede" Westminster, CO. Passed away July 19, in Colorado at age 78 of Myelodys-plastic Syndrome, complicated by Parkinson's Disease. Jon was born to Evelyn and Ferdinand Nelson on Feb 1, 1938, in Mpls, MN. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and daughters, Elizabeth Doyle (Kevin) Westminster, and Allison McCoy (Clark) Windsor, CO. Also six granddaughters, Peyton & Regan Doyle; Ryan, Maggie, Frankie, & Lulu McCoy. Other survivors include sister, Jan Wolden (Charles) of Stillwater, MN and nephews, Colin, David & Derek. Plus many cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. A 1956 graduate of North High School, Jon played varsity basketball, football & tennis. He graduated from Univ. of Minnesota School of Business in 1961. After many years in the Mpls. business community, Jon retired in 1991, from North Star Computer Supply, as VP of Sales & Marketing. In retirement, Jon enjoyed living between homes in Wayzata and on Seagull Lake at the end of the Gunflint Trail. Jon especially enjoyed his many friends, the BWCA, walleye fishing, U of M basketball & Vikings football. In 2013 Jon & Ruth moved to Colorado to live closer to family. Memorial donations may be made to Michael J.Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and St Jude Children's Research.
