Anderson, John Helten Age 86, of Mpls, passed away March 11, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Carl and Agnes Anderson, and brother Leonard Anderson. John was a graduate of North High School and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of MN. For most of his professional career, John was a teacher, counselor, and program administrator in the Mpls Public Schools where he considered every student his 'kid'. A man deeply rooted in the richest gifts of life, family, faith and social justice, John knew what mattered most, relationships. His greatest relationship was the one with his wife of almost 54 years, Noel, who entered hospice the same week he did and died just three months after he passed. John was a friend to everyone he met whether during a walk around the lake, a conversation at church, or a cashier at the grocery store. In retirement, John enjoyed traveling, time with his grandchildren, and volunteer work. John is survived by his children, Mary (Jim) McHugh, John (Robyn) Anderson, Monica (Kent) Stuart, and Matthew Anderson; grandchildren, Molly, David, John, Megan and Danielle; and brother, Robert Anderson. Private family service to follow. Memorials preferred to Bridging MN. Cremation Society of MN 612 825 2435.
