Burns, Gerald P. age 80, of Bloomington, passed away at his home June 11, 2016, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born in Minneapolis in 1936. He attended South High School, served in the U.S. Navy, and attended the U of MN. He married his love Jeannette Dupont in 1957 and started what would become a family of seven children. In 1959, he started a long, successful sales career at Addressograph, which moved him and the family to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1975, he transferred to Data Card and returned to his beloved Minnesota. He retired from Data Card in 1998, taking many friends and memories. He lost his leg to cancer when he was 46 years old after years of battling the disease. He credited his faith and his wife for allowing him to get back to work, break sales records, and put all seven kids through Catholic school. He loved music, fishing, making people laugh, watching sports, and being with his family. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his children, Teri (Steve) Montbriand, Colleen (Jim) Durda, Pat (Tim) Bot, Maureen (Ben) McKean, Michelle Burns, Michael (Natalie) Burns, and Brian (Kristen) Burns; 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and extended family. A remarkable man has left us, but his indomitable, loving, and generous spirit lives on in nature and in all of us. We are forever grateful for his life and for what he has given us. A special thanks to Dr. Mark Wilkowske, Dr. Karla Rosenman, the staff at Park Nicollet Hospice and Angel Larsen.
