Shopek, Gary J. "Slips" of North Minneapolis, age 51 was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph "Spike" & Marietta "Marcie". Survived by sister, Laurie Modeen; brothers, Tim "Boots" (Marianne) Shopek and Ralph "Bud" Shopek; niece, Vanessa; great nephew, Caleb; other relatives and friends. Gary attended the U of M from 83-87 where he was a standout, walk on hockey player and was able to fulfill his love for hockey and create his own legacy. Gary cherished his beloved animals that came and went over the years. His big heart made him loved by many. Memorial Mass will be 11 AM Saturday, April 26 at the Church of St. Bridget, 3811 Emerson Ave. N., Mpls, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Gearty-Delmore 763-537-4511
