Barton, Caitlan C. age 25, of Minneapolis. Caitlan Christine Barton was born on May 14, 1988. She attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Savage from preschool - 8th grade. Cait had a beautiful voice, and cantored at church on Sundays at St. John's throughout her grade school and high school years. She started her sports career at a young age playing soccer, softball, skiing and basketball. She swam with the Burnsville Swim Club for many years, and excelled at piano. She went on to attend the Academy of Holy Angels high school. During her 4 years there, she lettered in soccer, hockey cheerleading, theater, music, academics and service. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, and was captain of the hockey cheerlead- ing team for 3 years. She received the Triple 'A' Award for Arts, Academics and Athletics. She was All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention for soccer, and she was selected to be on the Minnesota All-State Soccer Team. She was awarded Most Dedicated Cheerleader and received the Outstanding Music Participant Award in 2005-2006. Cait went on to get accepted at the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota. She doubled majored in International Business and Marketing, and minored in Spanish. She studied abroad in Barcelona, which triggered her love for traveling the world. She was a loyal Pi Beta Phi sorority member, a social butterfly and loved to attend Gopher sporting events on the weekends with her friends. She especially loved hockey. Cait was offered a position with Target Corporate in 2010 after she performed amazingly during her summer internship in 2009. She took the position with Target bbecause they are a great company, but also because they give back to the community, which was so important to Cait. She loved her position as TSS Product Manager, and was promoted 3 times during her 3 years with Target. She was elected to the service organization with Target to head up service projects for the Minneapolis community. She was a devout St. Jude Children's Research Hospital advocate, and ran marathons while raising money for childhood cancer research. Her inspiration was her little cousin, Claire, St. Jude patient, who preceded her in death just 2 1/2 years earlier. She quoted while raising money for St. Jude Heroes, "My cousin Claire has been my greatest inspiration in life. She has taught me more about love, laughter and life in her short 6 years, than anyone else in the world." Caitlan's Faith was her greatest asset. Everywhere she traveled, from Fatima to Rome, she always sought out the Catholic churches for quiet time with the Lord. She had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, and found peace attending Eucharistic adoration. She told her Mom that she needed to strengthen her relationship with the Lord even more, so she decided to teach 8th grade religious education at the Basilica of St. Mary. Cait's life motto was, "Everything happens for a reason," and if something didn't work out, she would say, "Then it wasn't meant to be and God has a different plan for me." She lived life to the fullest, and the most important thing in life to her was her Faith, family and friends. She met her special love of her life, Ryan Shandley, and the two were planning their future together. She loved him dearly and he brought her incredible joy. She will forever be remembered and dearly missed by all of her family and friends. We love you so very very much, Cait the Great!
