George E. Getten

Getten, George E. age 84, of Edina, a wonderful husband, caring father, loyal friend, loving papa, has died on June 3, 2016 of Parkinson Disease. George graduated from Wayzata HS in 1949, U of WI-River Falls (BS) and Moorhead St. (MA). George worked the majority of his career as the Media Specialist at Edina HS. George also served 4 years in the US Navy during Korea. He was also a master woodworker who won many blue ribbons for his designs. He will be missed by his wife Jan of nearly 59 years; sons, Brien Getten (Shelley) of Two Harbors and Tim Leone-Getten (Mary Beth) of St. Paul; grandchildren, Devin, Brighid, Siena and Paloma; sisters-in-law, Mary Greeman, Kathie DuRocher (Frank); many nieces and nephews. Services are planned for Thursday, June 9. 10 AM Visitation, 11 AM Mass, 12 PM Lunch at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Struthers Parkinson Club Create or St. Joan of Arc Church.
