Vnoucek, Edeltraud "Trudy" age 89 of Crystal, was born to Franz and Anna (Rödig) Riedl in Silberbach, Distr. Kraslice, Czechoslovakia (German Sudetenland) on January 7, 1924. She escaped communist Czechoslovakia with Jaroslav Vnoucek after both were faced with a life of forced labor. They fled to East Germany, and then on to a more dangerous crossing to West Germany. They married August 24, 1948 in Georgensmünd, Bavaria. They lived in post WWII displaced persons camps in West Germany for over 2 years. In 1950, with their infant son, they sailed on the Gen. W. C. Langfitt from Bremerhaven to New York City. Their journey continued to Mpls. where their second son was later born. They returned to the Czech Republic and Germany several times to visit family. Trudy was a seamstress for Robichek-Schneider Clothing. Preceded in death by husband of 61 years, Jaroslav "Jerry" Vnoucek; parents, brother, Johan Riedl; sister, Gertrud Kunzl; brothers-in-law, Hans Kunzl, Franz Novacek, Roland Becker, and granddaughter, Cindy Vnoucek. Survived by sons Jerry (Linda) and Steve (Susan); grandchildren, Jennifer (Bill) Johnson and Ken Vnoucek; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brian and Samantha Johnson; sisters, Ella Becker of Pfaffenhofen, Germany and Julie Novacek of Giengen, Germany. Trudy was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed. Thank you to all who cared for Trudy, especially those at Care Break. Interment Glen Haven Cemetery.
