Stewart, John William "Jack" Born 9/13/28; Died 10/5/12 Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Teacher, Adult and Youth Outreach Worker, Friend. Jack had a gentle and warm heart. He was a decent, honorable, honest, and sincere man who was more concerned for others than himself. He enjoyed his family, the outdoors, travel, classical music, classic and contemporary film, and the exploration of ancient and current philosophies and religions. He taught crime prevention for youth and adults at Metro State University. He worked as a parole officer, probation officer, and in the Minnesota State Correctional Facilities Certification programs. He also worked at the Northeast Neighborhood House, the Sheriff's Ranch, Lino Lakes, and the Hennepin County Home School. Survived by wife of 51 years, Beverly Jean (Moore), son Daniel John (Angie Dhruvan), granddaughter Laura Anne, sister Connie Ferrozo, brother Craig Brown (Wendy), and by other relatives, friends, and former students. Preceded in death by mother Laura Ann Brown, father Frank Stewart, step-father Clarence Brown, and sister Dorothy Pilquist. Sincere appreciation to staff and friends at the Wellington and to St. Croix Hospice staff for making his last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. Service at First Unitarian Society, 900 Mount Curve Ave, Minneapolis, Friday, October 12, 2012, 11:30 am. Gather with friends and family at 10:30 am. Memorials preferred to the Minnesota State Parks.
