Stenshoel, Myles C. Age 86 of Minnetonka, passed away March 26 at home, shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Preceded by parents, Nels and Marit and brother Norton. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Eunice; sister, Nadine; children, David, Eric, Peter, and Marit, their spouses Anne, Michael, Miriam and David; and grandchildren, Ella, Jordan, Dariya, Alex, and Stephen. He was born September 18, 1923, in Crookston, Minnesota. He served as a weather observer in the U.S. Army Air Force, 1943-46. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois, and the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he earned his Ph.D. in political science in 1965. He served as a Lutheran pastor at churches in Cheyenne Wells, Kit Carson, Estes Park, and Denver, Colorado. Between 1958 and 1965, he taught at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1965, he began teaching at Augsburg College, where he founded the political science department in 1966. He also taught courses at the University of Minnesota, Concordia University, St. Paul, St. Olaf College, Northfield, and California Lutheran University, Thousand Oaks, California. Through the Augsburg College Conservation of Human Resources Program, he taught courses in constitutional law at Stillwater State Prison. He retired from teaching in 1995. Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, Gethsemene Lutheran Church, 715 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins. Memorials may be made to the Myles Stenshoel Scholarship Fund at Augburg College, Gethsemene Lutheran Church Memorial Foundation, Hopkins, and Fairview Home Care and Hospice.
