Nelson, Gordon Bell of Minneapolis, died in his home on Friday, after a year long battle with cancer. He was 64. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, March 15, 1951 - the devoted son of William and Katherine (Girdwood) Nelson. Gordon was brought up in London, where he began his distinguished 40 year career as a hairdresser, artist, and educator. An apprentice of style icon, Vidal Sassoon, Gordon would go on to reach heights in the industry as an executive, chief creative and head educator at Regis Corporation, a global leader in the beauty industry. Revered by colleagues, Gordon was an inspiration to thousands of stylists in his more than 30 year tenure with the company. A generous and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother, Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Ann Nelson; adoring sons Gordon, Dylan and Damon; amazing grandchildren, Harry and Ella; and steadfast sister and brother, Christine and Robert. Gordon led a remarkable life. A life filled with meaning and purpose. He was driven and funny, charming and opinionated - a character, with a great eye and talented hands. He loved fancy cars, movies, Winston Churchill and Savile Row suits. He was the hero in his story and in ours. We will miss him dearly. Services will begin with an 11am visitation, followed by a 12pm Mass on Wednesday, January 20 at The Basilica of Saint Mary, 1600 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis, MN.
