Kassulke, Karl Walks with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With profound sadness, we announce Karl's passing on October 27, 2008. Karl had a generous heart, great sense of humor, and an unquenchable enthusiasm for life. These qualities endeared him to all that knew him. We are grateful to God for sharing Karl with us for 67 years. Karl was born in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from Drake University. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1963 and subsequently signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He played at defensive back strong safety for ten years with the Vikings. Karl played in Super Bowl IV and was elected to the Pro Bowl in 1970. His football career ended in 1973 when he was injured in a motorcycle accident which left his legs paralyzed. From his wheelchair he touched the lives of countless people with his indomitable spirit and unforgettable laugh. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Leona Kassulke, and his sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Susan; his three sons, Kurt (Shelley) of Los Angeles, Kory (Pauline) of Wilmington, NC, and Christopher of Eagan; three grandchildren, Dominic, Akira and Asha Kassulke. Karl is also survived by his brother, Rev. Willard (Carolyn) Kassulke; sisters, Carmen (Dean) Ryan, and Christine (John) Curro; nineteen nieces and nephews, including special niece, Maggie Scipioni, and by Kurt and Kory's mother, Dr. Jan Adams. Funeral Service 11 AM Thursday at the OAK HILLS CHURCH, 1570 Yankee Doodle Rd., Eagan. Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday (TODAY) at KLECATSKY & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1580 Century Pt. (Yankee Doodle at Coachman) Eagan and 1 hour prior to the service at church. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery. The family is grateful to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Fairview Southdale Hospital for giving such loving care to Karl in his last two days in this world. Memorials are preferred to Wings Outreach, a Christian ministry to the disabled that Karl loved and worked with for many years. Klecatsky & Sons 651-454-9488 klecatskys.com
