Earl, Nancy 84, of Willmar, formerly of Edina, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 14, 2008 . Nancy was born on December 6, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of James and Nellie (McLean) Whittemore. When she was a baby girl, they moved to Glenwood where she grew up and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1942 with honors. She continued her education by attending Normal Training to teach school. For a few years, Nancy taught in country schools in the Glenwood / Alexandria area. On March 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Richard Earl at Union Congregational Church in Glenwood. Following their marriage, they moved to Minneapolis where Richard was living at the time and began there life together as husband and wife. They built several homes in the South Metro Area, finally settling into Edina. Nancy was active in Normandale Lutheran Church and made it the family’s church home. She attended and led bible studies both at Normandale and in the community. She taught a weekday religion course to Edina grade school students for a number of years. Nancy was also a member of Colonial Church of Edina before moving to Willmar in 2005 when she became a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Nancy’s legacy to her family and friends was her unwavering faith in the Lord her Savior and the unconditional love for her family. Surviving are her husband, Richard; son, Richard (and Teresa) Earl of Plymouth; daughter, Elizabeth (and Gary) Wyffels of Willmar; eight grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, David, Ashley, Alyssa, Leslie, Erik and Matthew; and sisters and brothers, Mary Nelson of St. Cloud; Jane Schopper of Glenwood; Elizabeth Shannon of Edina; James (and Janice) Whittemore of Glenwood; Sally (and Duane) Melling of Prior Lake; Charles (and Lois) Whittemore of Glenwood; Herbert (and Addie) Whittemore of Edina and Donna (and John) Reeves of Fort Worth, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Steven in 1988 and brother, Willard. Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Burial will be in Grove Lake Cemetery in Grove Lake. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, 1000 19th Ave, SW, Willmar, 320-235-0545 and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
