Larson, Lowell Richard age 60, of Andover, MN, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 10th of 2008. Lowell was born on April 1st, 1948 at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN to Glenn (Bud) and Karyl Larson of Gatzke, MN. Lowell grew up on a cattle and grain farm near Gatzke, MN. Lowell attended grade school in Gatzke until the 8th grade, then graduated Valedictorian from Middle River High School in 1966. Lowell then attended the University of North Dakota graduating with a four year electrical engineering degree in 1970. He was drafted into the United States Army in August of 1970 and served two and a half years in active duty and three and a half years in stand-by reserve and was honorably discharged in August of 1976. Lowell was currently employed at BAE Systems in Fridley, MN, which was formerly called FMC, and was on his 38th year. Lowell traveled all over the United States and overseas working on several projects and was granted patents and awards for several of these projects. Lowell had a passion for music. He enjoyed writing, performing and recording music with his family, and played the keyboard and guitar. He was a large supporting fan of the band called, "Back Behind the Barn Boys." He also treasured hunting and spending time with his family on property he owned near the farm in Gatzke (UP NORTH) where he grew up. Lowell devoted his life to his family and career and will be greatly missed by family, friends and co-workers. Lowell was preceded in death by his father and survived by his mother, two brothers and his sister, four sons and a daughter, one daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Quote in Lowell's own words: "I did it pretty good for the way I did it." Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 4101 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights, 763-789-4436. Prayer service will be held Thursday evening, May 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN 218-681-4331. Funeral services will be held at United Lutheran Church in Gatzke, MN on Friday, May 16th at 2:00 PM. Lunch will be provided after the service.
