Lundholm, Dorothy Gilmore age 100 years and ten months, passed away peacefully at her home on July 16, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold T. Lundholm and is survived by son, Robert (Carol); daughter, Karen; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann; sister-in-law, Wilda Gilmore; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. Dorothy was born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Joseph Samuel Gilmore and his wife, Emma Minna Mueller on September 17, 1906 and her love for her home state never diminished. She attended St. Joseph Junior College and received her B.A. from the University of Missouri. She received an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Iowa, where she met a young Ph.D. candidate who was to become her husband. For many years, she taught high school mathematics and a variety of elementary grades at the Blake School in Hopkins and at Northrop Collegiate School in Minneapolis. She and her young family spent many summers at Camp Lincoln/Camp Lake Hubert near Nisswa, MN and later at their family cabin "Aftermath" on the north shore of Lake Superior. Dorothy loved reading of any kind, travel to anywhere, classical music, wildflowers and being surrounded by family and friends at any kind of gathering. She joined Hennepin Avenue Church in 1940 and was honored recently for her more than 60 years of service. Dorothy's final years were not always easy, but she never stopped living life as fully as she could, always returning to the home she and her husband loved so much. One highlight occurred last year when she attended an ice cream social held in honor of her 100th birthday and she remembered everyone who came to celebrate with her and greeted each guest by name. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Vera Vasko, compassionate friend and gifted caregiver. A celebration of Dorothy's long and happy life will be held at the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Avenue in Minneapolis on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, MN 55318 or the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church.
