Leland, Leonard A. Our brave and kindhearted Len passed away at home in Robbinsdale on January 13th, 2020 at age of 76. Summer resident of Horseshoe Lake in Merrifield, MN. Born May 5th, 1943 in Detroit Lakes MN. Graduate of Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. US Army veteran and served as Military Policeman guarding nuclear equipment in West Germany during the Vietnam conflict. Died of CLL, Metastatic Melanoma and lung cancer. Fisherman extraordinaire, master lefse maker, deer and goose hunter, builder of loon habitats, gardener, Cub/Boy Scout leader, volunteer for Kid Pack and Northport School. Worked on family farm, as lineman for Northern Pacific Railroad, Retired as electronic technician from AT&T and Qwest. Vice President of CWA local union 7250. Member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Plymouth, MN. Preceded in death by parents Jacob and Eleanor, brother Wallace, in laws Stuart and Clio Hatch. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Susan, son Brian Leland and wife Lisa, daughter Lori and husband Michael Jacobwith, grandchildren Stuart and Grace Leland, Cameron, Lauren and Kaitlin Jacobwith. Brothers Paul Leland (Virginia), Peter Leland (Fran), and sister Corrine Haider (Dennis); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends that provided prayers and support.
