Strommen, Gladys Irene (Boxrud) Our loving, compassionate and caring Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and Aunt passed away on Sunday, May 27th, 2019 at the age of 95. Preceded in death by her husband, Clair E. Strommen; her parents and two brothers. Mom lived life with class, forgiveness and grace. Mom died in the same manner, peacefully, prepared and feeling blessed with a great life, friends, and large extended family. Mom spent over 30 years making her home between Roseville, MN and Naples, Florida until she settled into 7500 York and later York Gardens in Edina, MN. Mom was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her 2 children, daughter, Nancy (John- Mark) Stensvaag and son, Robert Strommen and extended family. Mom was an amazing partner to her husband in building his business with Strommen & Associates and career with Lutheran Brotherhood. A graduate of Augsburg (College) University in 1946. Gladys (GIB) was an active supporter, along with her husband, of Augsburg University in many significant ways including serving on the Board of Regents. In 2014 Gladys helped establish the Clair and Gladys Strommen Center for Meaningful Work at Augsburg in honor of her husband and support of Augsburg. Survived by her two children, 8 grandchildren, Bjorn (Cydney) Strommen, Hans Strommen, Tjersti (Steve) Webb, Eric and Christina Stensvaag, Rebecca and Paul Darda, Kirsten and Chris Van Rybroek, Nellie and James Gosh and Jonathan and Erin Stensvaag. In addition, mom had 9 Great-Grandchildren and countless relatives and friends. Celebration and Memorial Service will be held at 3PM on Monday, July 8th, 2019 at Mt Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave S, Mpls, with reception to follow.
