Sauer, Mary Lou Age 85, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, 2018 surrounded by her loving children. Preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Ann Nelson; and her loving husband of 59 years, Fred Sauer. She is survived by her children, Brian (Darcy), Patsy (Jim (deceased), Mike (Carey) and Gretchen (Chris); grandchildren, Alissa, Anna, Dominic, Donahue, Delaney, Will, Morgan & Sam; great-grandchildren Jake, Caleb, Lilian, Carson, Sophia, Olivia, Lucas and Jace. She was an only child born in Hartley, IA. She was an award winning member of the 4H Club in Brainerd, MN. As a young girl, not only did she learn to water ski but she mastered the water ski jump. Mary was a loving wife and mother who dedicated herself to raising four successful children. She entered the workforce later in life, starting her career at Richards Oil Company in Savage, Minnesota working her way from Secretary and ascending to Vice President of the company. She made a career change into the travel industry working for North Central Airlines, Republic Airlines and finally retiring from Northwest Airlines in a senior yield management position. She was an avid world traveler which included numerous trips transporting infant orphans from India and Korea to the United States. She loved to sew and spend time shopping with her daughters. For the past 20 years, Mary and Fred have spent their time between Minnesota and Florida enjoying their retirement. She was the president of their condo Home Owners Association in Florida for many years. She was a devoted member of St. John's Catholic Church in Savage, MN and attended St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Largo, FL. She will be sorely missed by all but there is comfort knowing that she is reunited with her loving husband, Fred. A memorial service will be held January 18th, 2019 at 1pm at St Jerome's Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd, Largo, FL. Mary's final resting place will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, FL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
