Fleming, Dorothy Jean (Esby) Age 72 passed away December 5, 2018 at her home on Lake 11 ('..is Heaven) in Sandstone, MN. Dorothy (DD, as her grandchildren called her), was born October 6, 1946 in South Minneapolis to Glenn and Anna Esby (Hovanetz). She married Mike Fleming 55 years ago and had three children, Virginia (Russ) Tschida, Laura (Mike) Kraft, Catherine Gauthier; and 7 grandchildren. Dorothy was an activist, writer, politician, and most importantly, a devout Catholic. She was very active at St. Kevin's Parish in South Minneapolis and ran for State Representative in 1983. Dorothy was committed to saving babies from abortion, cofounding ProLife Minnesota and Human Life Alliance. She served on the City Council in St. Anthony, MN, Deputy Chair of the Republican Party, and wrote many articles in her attempt to "save the world". Mike and Dorothy took her speaking abilities on the road in recent years, sharing her love of movies with many groups. She had many friends and cared about everyone she met, evangelizing to them and challenging them to improve their lives. Dorothy loved God, family, life, good food, fun, gardening, sunsets, the cabin and birds-everything beautiful and good. She had a life well lived. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Glenn and Anna Esby (Hovanetz); sister Sister Ann Jeremy, SSJ; brother, Bob; and grandson Stephen. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Dorothy on Monday, December 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 203 Lawler Ave S., Hinckley, MN with Father Joseph Sirba officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and go until the beginning of the Mass at 11 a.m. Lunch will take place at St. Patrick's Church before the burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Finlayson, MN.
