Kubera, Elva Marjorie Lange August 25, 1924-September 11, 2018 We sadly announce the passing of Elva Kubera, extraordinary wife, mother, and business person.

Raised in rural southwestern Minnesota, Elva attended a one-room schoolhouse, and Pipestone/Ruthton High Schools, where she graduated at the top of her class. She attended Minnesota School of Business, where she met George Kubera. During WWII George served in the Naval Air Corps while Elva worked at the Twin Cities Ordnance Plant.

After the war, they began a wonderful marriage, lasting 70 years. They moved to Memphis, TN for George's job with Cargill, where they had two children, Gregg (1950), and Paula (1952). Next they transferred to Buffalo, NY in 1955, where Elva was housewife & mother. When the children started school, she became office manager for engineer Edward Dye, inventor of the automobile seat belt.

Cargill transferred the family to San Francisco in 1961, where Elva became a real estate broker. She was office & sales manager for Jerome Draper Realty, specializing in Hillsborough where the family resided. They were transferred to Minneapolis in 1970, where Elva earned her BA-business and they lived until George's passing in 2016.

In Minnesota she worked various jobs where she proved her business acumen and managerial skills, ending as an IRS corporate trainer. She was a loving, nurturing and wise mother who also enjoyed close relationships with her three grandsons.

Elva reveled in having dinner guests; for Cargill associates, family & friends, and the "Tennis Group" with whom she played until her legs failed her. She used crutches for the final 30+ years of her life always a positive role model.

As avid world-travelers, she and George visited Europe, Asia, and Australia. After George's passing, Elva moved to Houston, TX to be closer to her daughter & grandchildren, and to finally escape Minnesota winters. She died of natural causes just days after her 94th birthday. By her request, there will be no formal memorial service.

Preceded in death by parents Ed & Etta Lange, siblings Inez Brooke, Don Lange, LaVonne Erickson, and husband George Kubera, Elva is survived by sister Mildred Spring, children Gregg Kubera (Susan Nelson) & Paula Kubera-Kirst (Tim Kirst), grandchildren Kyle Kirst, Logan Kirst, & Marshall Kirst, and great-grandchildren Kelsey, Liam, & Luke.
