Col. Quentin James Morris, ret.
Morris, Col. Quentin James ret. passed peacefully in the small hours of August 17, 2018. "QJ" was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Oliva and is survived by his wife of 49 years Patricia, sons Quentin Jr and James, daughter Deborah (B'Hymer), five grandchildren and one great grandson. QJ was born 30 November 1931 in Breckinridge, MN and grew up in Wahpeton, ND. Soon after he graduated high school, he volunteered into the USAF in 1952. Based on his aptitude's, he was accepted into Officers Candidate School and earned his wings as a jet fighter pilot. QJ flew F86s in France before returning stateside as an instructor pilot. Realizing the physical limitations of his body, he opted to pursue and achieve an engineering degree at Arizona State University toward advancing his service career. His talents as an engineer and leader opened senior executive assignments on several major strategic programs including Minuteman and AWACS before retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1977. QJ and Pat then settled in Apple Valley, MN where they could care for his mother and where he served in program management for Sperry Univac and UNISYS. Always with an inquiring mind, challenging disposition, eye for detail and quick wit, his body failed him long before his mind, which was strong to the end. His hobbies included woodcraft, clock building, hi-fidelity music and sports cars. Memorial Service 12 PM Friday, August 24, 2018 at White Funeral Home, 14560 Pennock Ave. Apple Valley, MN.
