Shaffer, Ann M. Age 86, of Fridley. Passed away 8/11/2018. Ann Mildred Payne was born on Mar. 10, 1932 to Clarence and Mildred (Anderson) Payne, at their home south of De Graff, MN. She was baptized and confirmed into Christian Faith. She attended grade school at District 56 until the 7th grade. Her parents purchased a newer home in Benson and she finished her 7th grade and 8th grades in the Benson school system. She married, first to Harold Gulbrandson on November 5, 1949. They divorced several years later. Ann then married Edward Milo Shaffer on December 7, 1963. Ann and Ed purchased a home in Fridley, and they both retired while living there and Ann continued to live in the same home after Ed's death on September 23, 2003. Ann worked as a waitress for many, many years. When she retired, she had worked for Little Jack's Steak House for 22 years. Ann enjoyed doing embroidery; she and Ed did some traveling with her sister Florence and husband Clarance Eischens. She enjoyed attending all of the Payne Family Reunions. She missed this year due to illness. She also made quilts and in the last few years, she watched more TV programs. Ann is survived by her sisters, Gladys Irvin of Bismarck, ND., Florence Eischens of Glencoe and Wanda Morris of Renton, WA.; step-son Gregg Shaffer; twin grandsons Jonathan (Kara) and Emmett (Monique) Shaffer; step-granddaughter, Jessie Shaffer (significant other, Brian Hoffman); seven step-great grandchildren, Presley and Jamison Shaffer, Catalena Shaffer, and Lorelei, Ary Anna, Willow and Arin Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mildred Payne; brothers Orville (Hazel Neuhaus), Clint (Leona Jacobs), Russell (La Bonna Jacobs), and C. Raymond (Barb Osborn) Payne; sisters, Muriel Payne, Doris Neuhaus (Floyd), Bernice Fernholz (Leon) and her beloved husband Edward Milo Shaffer. Funeral service 2pm Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Sunset Kapala-Glodek Funeral Home (2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE., Minneapolis) visitation 1pm until the time of service. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
