Thorvig, Richard J. After a brief illness, Dick died peacefully in his sleep at home at the age of 93 on August 4, 2018 with his loving wife of 68 years, Betty, at his side. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Martina. As the patriarch of the Thorvig family, Dick will forever be missed by Betty; his son, Gary (Lisa); daughters, Holly (Wayne Miller) and Barbara; grandchildren, Joe (Karrie), and Jill Thorvig; as well as many other family members and friends. Dick was a lifetime resident of the Minneapolis area and graduate of Roosevelt high school and Augsburg College before commencing a successful career in the window and millwork business. While Dick was an avid sports enthusiast, including youth sports coaching, he will be most remembered by all who knew him for his youthful personality and always prioritizing family and faith. Funeral service to be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 8600 E. Bush Lake Rd. in Bloomington at 11 am August 10 with a reception to follow.
