Liebenow, Walther Martin 04/18/22 - 04/21/18 His Judith once described Walther as a tenacious puzzle solver, educated, eloquent, loving and kind. He was all those things and more world traveler, author, teacher, swimmer, organ aficionado. He flew over enemy lines at Normandy in a glider made of canvas; practiced library science at U of Chicago, UCLA and UMN; helped feed countless street kids every Monday night for decades at St. Mark's; and married Judith in a tiny chapel made of flint in the English countryside and celebrated with a slice of chocolate cake. We will all miss him terribly. He was predeceased by his wife Judith Duncan Liebenow, parents and 7 siblings; he is survived by sisters Lois and Esther, nieces and nephews, and treasured friends. Memorial service Sat. June 2, 11:00AM, Cathedral Church of St. Mark's on Loring Park. Reception to follow. It was Walther's wish to have memorials be directed to the Dean's Discretionary Fund, St. Mark's Cathedral.
