Anderson, Janet McKenzie of Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away peacefully with family at her side in Phoenix, Arizona on April 7th, 2018 after an eight year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Margaret (Riley) McKenzie, brother Ron and his wife Anne Devoy McKenzie, and nephew Mark McKenzie. Her beloved cat "Riggs" passed a few days before her. She is survived by her husband Dr. Maynard Anderson, his daughter Anna (Anderson) Lawson and her husband Lance Lawson, and granddaughters Tess and Isabel Lawson. She is also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dave and Marlys Thies, as well as niece and goddaughter Angela McKenzie and nephews Ron Paul McKenzie and Gregory McKenzie, great-nieces/ nephews Matthew, Mark, Thu, Ryan and Katie McKenzie. "Jansy" was a 1957 graduate of the Academy of Holy Angels and a 1961 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Home Economics. She began her career teaching at Our Lady of Grace in Edina, Minnesota. She shifted to the corporate world with positions at 3M, ADM (Archer, Daniels, Midland), and retired after with a 25 year career at First Bank (US Bank). At age 49 she married longtime friend Maynard Anderson, DDS, and they had 30 years of a great marriage. Jan possessed an upbeat, positive personality with many varied interests. She studied at St. Paul College, and completed the interpreter training course and became a proficient "signer" for the deaf. She was keenly interested in Genealogy and did extensive research on her family background. She was fascinated by technology and well ahead of her generation in mastering the computer and latest "apps". She was active with Holy Angels Alumni, the Minneapolis League of Catholic Women, and she and Maynard were active in the Arizona Chapter of U of MN Alumni Association. The memorial service will be at Risen Savior Catholic Church, located at 1501 East County Road 42, Burnsville, Minnesota on May 10th, with a gathering beginning at 9:30AM, followed by Mass at 10:30AM and a luncheon to follow. Later, a private burial service will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
