Adams, Antonieta and John John H. Adams, born March 27, 1929 in Hamel, Minnesota; died February 13, 2006 in Miami where he resided with his wife Antonieta since 1976. Antonieta del Carpio Adams, born January 2, 1929 in Arequipa, Peru; died February 6, 2018. They shared a life that joined continents and languages. They met and married in Lima, Peru in 1956. They moved to Minnesota were John received a Master of Arts degree at the University of Minnesota. His career moved them to Colombia where he was instrumental in founding the Department of Languages at the University of Antioquia. The University honored him on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the department, naming the Library after him. They returned to the United States in 1975 and settled in Miami in 1976 where John worked for Social Security Administration until his retirement. On April 7, 2018 they will be interred at St Anne's cemetery after 10 a.m. mass at 200 Hamel Road, Hamel. At Antonieta's request, they will both be buried near the gravesite of Clara Adams (John's mother), who she loved dearly. Antonieta was a loving and caring wife and mother. She will be remembered for her warm hospitality and her vivacious personality who loved playing the castanets. We consider ourselves blessed to have been a part of their lives. They are survived by their son, Anthony; daughter, Marita; son in law, George Stevenson and grandson, Alexander; John's sister, Rita Neault; John's brother, William Adams; and Antonieta's sister Maria Hortensia del Carpio.
