Scheidhauer/Shimshock, Mark Alan Age 61, passed away at Mayo hospital on 2/25/18 surrounded by those he loved. While it was a gentle passing, Mark was convinced even in his final hours that he would win the fight with MDS/Leukemia. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Al and Millie, niece Shelly, and in-laws Helen and George. He is survived and was supported by many who will miss him dearly, including his wife Mary of 35 years, favorite companions Leo and Bailey, his siblings Linda (Larry Eastman), Gary Scheidhauer (Gayle) Bob Scheidhauer (Judy) brothers-in law John Shimshock (Sue), Ric Shimshock (Su), Sisters in law Terese Shimshock (Carl Swansen), Barb Shimshock (Mark Miller), beloved nieces and nephews, and his Wells Fargo family. Mark was a graduate of the U of M, and had a 39 year career in banking, starting with the Bank of Mpls. He joined Wayzata Bank and Trust in 1984 and helped transition the bank to Norwest and finally Wells Fargo. Mark was a Vice President at Wells Fargo, and in 2011 he moved to the Affluent Segment Market within Wells Fargo, gained his securities license, and was the Affluent Customer Segment leader for Central and Northern Minnesota and West Metro Suburbs. He loved working for Wells Fargo, and was admired for his professional coaching and mentoring. Mark believed in giving back to the community and gave of his time freely and with joy. While he was actively involved in too many organizations to list, most notably he played a leadership role in Sponsor A Family MN, ACS Relay for Life, and led many Wayzata community support campaigns for Wells Fargo for 38 years, such as JJ Hill Days, Chili Open, RM Golf Classic and Interfaith Outreach Campaigns. He was a member and past president of the Wayzata Area Crime Prevention Coalition, and served on the board for the Chamber of Commerce. He was a recipient of the Wayzata Person of the Year Award, along with the James Fish Award. These organizations and many others will miss Mark's contributions and fun loving personality. Mark loved his family, dogs, his cabin, boats, travel, and nature. Some of his gifts to all that knew him were his willingness to help anyone that needed it, love of a good joke, his unending positivity, blue eyes, and always present smile. He bounded out of bed at 530am with unending energy excited to face each day with that smile. A special thanks to the U Of M (who called him their best dressed chemo patient) and the many Drs and Nurses at Mayo who supported us through this short journey. He truly believed in each of you and that you would give him another shot at life. Memorials preferred to MDS/AML research at Leukemia Lymphomia Society, events.lls.org/pages/mn/…, or mailed in honor of Mark LLS 1711 Broadway St. NE, Minneapolis MN 55413. In honor of Mark's life there will be a Celebration of Life on 3/23 from 4-8 pm at the Hamel Community Building, 3200 Mill Drive, Hamel, MN 4-7 pm social hour, 7-8 pm sharing and final prayer. In support of Mark's legacy to all of us, commit to facing each day with a smile and a helping hand.
