Richard Curtis 'Dick' Helgeson

Helgeson, Richard Curtis ("Dick") Age 72 of Dawson, MN passed away 02/12/2018. Dick was born in Dawson on 06/14/1945 and grew up on a small farm south of town. He graduated from Dawson High in 1963 and from Moorhead State with a degree in music. He taught music in several schools in Minnesota and South Dakota before starting a second career designing and selling band uniforms for DeMoulin and Medalist Stanbury. He also had his own band accessories company, Paradeline. Dick had health problems in his later years and moved back to Dawson in 2003. He is survived by sister Carol, two brothers, Ronald and Jim (Lois Ann), sister-in-law Susan Helgeson, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helmer and Alice, sister Wanda, brother Jon, brother-in-law Donald ("Ducky") Ellefson, and sister-in-law Gracelyn Helgeson. No service is planned; a memorial gathering for close family may be held later this spring.
