Johnson (nee Havanac), Julie Serine age 48, a resident of Minneapolis, passed away on December 31st. Preceded in death by her great- grandmother Serine Peterson, great- grandfather Adolph Peterson, grandfather Peter Havanac, grandmother Marion Havanac, grandmother Mildred Hinton, grandfather George Sleva, step-grandfather Donald Hinton, and aunt Therese Quiroz (Sleva). Survived by her parents Peter J. and Carol A. Havanac (Blaine, Minnesota), sister Cheryl L. Havanac (Minneapolis, Minnesota), ex-husband Steve Johnson (Columbia Heights, Minnesota), aunt Patricia Lozon and uncle Thomas Lozon (Superior Wisconsin), and many cousins. Julie was born in Madison, Wisconsin, but as an Air Force dependent, lived in many different places, including Washington, DC; Fort Collins, Colorado; Belleville, Illinois; Omaha, Nebraska; San Jose, California; and Seoul, Republic of Korea, before settling down in the Twin Cities area. She showed athletic, artistic, and academic skills at various times in her life. She worked as a nurse for several health facilities in the Twin Cities area. Julie was a kind-hearted, generous person with a tendency to seek out and help those in need. She loved "Seinfeld", music (Neil Young and George Harrison, especially), and animals, particularly her beloved dogs Topaz, Donald, and Mitzy. Julie will be remembered by family and friends for her million-dollar smile, sense of humor, and loyal friendship. Memorials should be made to the Anoka County Humane Society.
