Plate design gallery

Fort Snelling State Park, 10-4 p.m. Saturday, noon-4 p.m. Sunday

Artists from around the state have submitted original artwork for the first Minnesota State Parks and Trails license plate design contest. Their entries are on display. Stop by and check them out. The winner by public vote will be printed on license plates that will provide free access to all Minnesota state parks and recreation areas. The online vote will happen from June 13-19. The cost of the new plates will start at $60, plus tax. This total includes a one-time $10 fee for the plate itself and a minimum $50 contribution (renewable annually). (612-725-2724, mndnr.gov)
