Cedar Rapids Kernels pitcher Dallas Gallant will be suspended for 50 games at the start of the 2014 season for violating baseball's drug program. He tested positive for an amphetamine, according to a statement for Commissioner Bud Selig's office.

Gallant, a 6-foot-3 right-hander from Trinity, Texas, had a 5.51 ERA in 14 relief appearances at Class A Cedar Rapids. He struck out 28 batters and walked 13 in 16 1/3 innings.

Gallant was selected by the Twins in the 23rd round of the 2010 amateur draft.
