Apple Valley turns it on at the end

• SECTION 3: Apple Valley's youth movement continues to pay off. Eighth-grade attacker Reagan Roelofs scored four goals in the final 12 minutes, rallying the Eagles past Burnsville 12-9 on Thursday in the section championship at Burnsville High School. She is one of six eighth-graders on the Eagles' roster.

Senior midfielder Katie Larson added two goals during the late spurt. Larson also finished with four goals.

Apple Valley (16-0) trailed 8-6 at the time. Roelofs' second goal gave the Eagles their first lead of the night, 9-8.

The Blaze (12-4), who opened a 6-1 lead in the first half, tied it at 9-all on Lindsey Coleman's third goal. Roelofs' third goal a minute later gave Apple Valley the lead for good.

Senior midfielder Blayr Thompson chipped in with three goals for Apple Valley, which beat Burnsville 13-8 during the regular season.

BOYS' LACROSSE

Rosemount wins in final seconds

• SECTION 3 FINAL: Senior midfielder Carter Yepsen scored twice in the final minute, giving Rosemount an 11-10 victory over Prior Lake. Yepsen scored the game-winning goal with 13 seconds remaining. He gave the Irish a 10-9 lead with a goal with 59 seconds left. Teammate Trent Woodcock, also a senior midfielder, scored earlier in the fourth quarter to even it at 9-all. The Irish (14-1) are the top-ranked team in the state.

New Life Academy wins with triple

CLASS 1A

• SECTION 4 FINAL: New Life Academy came out of the losers' bracket to beat Heritage Christian twice, 7-4 and 7-6, at Midway Stadium. Junior Sam Horner's triple off the left field wall provided the game-winning run for the Eagles in the ninth inning of the second game. Heritage Christian had scored two runs in the seventh to tie it at six-all.
