STAFF REPORTS

To say Champlin Park is playing well right now is a bit like saying Minnesota is a little chilly in the winter.

The Rebels, No. 3 in Class 3A, dismantled a very good opponent Thursday night, rolling over No. 10 Blaine 25-9, 25-8, 25-18.

Since losing to Lakeville North in the Marshall Tournament on Sept. 10, Champlin Park (12-1) has reeled off six victories in a row without losing a set. Rebels setter/outside hitter Sydney Hilley had 17 kills against the Bengals, many from the back row, and hit .533.

Sophomore Izzy Ashburn had 30 assists for the Rebels.

Volleyball: Jenny Mosser had 25 kills to lead Lakeville South, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A, to a 27-25, 25-23, 25-17 victory over No. 7 Lakeville North.

Boys' soccer: Peter McHugh scored twice on penalty kicks to help Totino-Grace, No. 10 in Class 1A, win 3-2 over Andover, ranked No. 7 in 2A. McHugh, a senior defender, scored the game-winner with 2:48 left. Alex Gutenberg scored twice for Andover.

Girls' tennis: It's a rarity in high school girls' tennis, but Edina, No. 2 in 2A, lost 5-2 to No. 3 Prior Lake on Wednesday, the Hornets' second loss this season. It is believed to be the first time Edina has lost twice in a season during its current 19-year reign as team state champion. The Lakers are now 10-1.
