The Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold an open house to deliver information on plans to rebuild I-35E between University and Maryland Avenues.

The meeting will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hiway Federal Credit Union, 840 Westminster St.

According to MnDOT, the project will kick off this summer and includes:

Replacing the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.

MnDOT says the project will provide better interchange spacing between Maryland Avenue and University Avenue by shifting the interchange from Pennsylvania Avenue to Cayuga Street

It also will provide for improved access for St. Paul's Phalen Boulevard.

The work is part of a 3-year effort to rebuild 35E from downtown St. Paul up to Little Canada Road. A new MnPASS lane is part of the project. That HOT lane will be finished by 2015.
