Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin was "extremely limited" in Friday's practice because of an ankle injury, according to coach Brad Childress, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Arizona at Mall of America Field.

Harvin did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday so it would seem he would be a long shot to play unless he makes significant progress over the next 24 to 48 hours. Harvin leads the Vikings with 31 receptions for 393 yards and three touchdowns.

"He's a tough guy," Childress said. "Let's face it, he injured that foot on his first catch of the game [last Sunday in New England] and still was very productive. I would just say he's tough. Different things respond different ways. Everything goes through your foot, your ankle and so he's got to have his faculties for the game the way he plays it."

The Vikings also added wide receiver Bernard Berrian to the injury report Friday because of a groin injury that limited him in today's session.

With the Vikings having waived Randy Moss and possibly missing Harvin, the team's receivers could be Berrian, Greg Lewis, Greg Camarillo and Hank Baskett.

Wide receiver Sidney Rice (hip) has been practicing this week but remains on the physically unable to perform list.

"He's made it through the whole practices but in a differnet kind of capacity," Childress said of Rice's workload this week. "He's taken turns with our starters, he's taken a lot of turns on the scout team. We kind of mix and matched him in there. He takes the whole game plan in and goes through it. He's working through some soreness right now. You might say he could play in a limited sector, that's all still being determined. I think probably next week's probably more viable but we're still going to see."

The Vikings continue to have 52 players on their roster, one under the limit, and Childress did not guarantee a move would be made today. There is a chance a player could be brought off the practice squad and it might not be a receiver.

"I've got kind of an idea, if we decide to do that," Childress said ofpotentially bringing up a practice-squad player. "Just see what the waiver wire looks like here Friday at 4 and see if there's anybody that has any value."

A chilly reception?

Vikings coach Brad Childress knows he doesn't stand to be a popular figure on Sunday at Mall of America Field. His decision to release Moss upset many Vikings fans and also came without consulting ownership.

"We've talked about that before in relation to the Lions game a few years ago," Childress said when asked if he had discussed the potential reception he might get. "Sometimes you have to bring your own energy to those places and get it going but I'm not crazy enough to think that there won't be catcalls. That's part of the deal. Every time I walk on and off of a field it's always interesting to hear what people have to say. That's part of the audience participation thing."

Childress and his players heard chants of "Fire Childress!" as the Vikings edged Detroit 12-10 on Oct. 12, 2008 at Mall of America Field.

Asked if he would do things over again from this week if he had the chance, Childress said: "I don't know. That's conjecture. I'm looking forward. I'm looking forward."

Childress also continued to downplay owner Zygi Wilf's presence at Winter Park this week. Wilf has been meeting with staff members and players and has been asking some questions about his head coach.

"I mentioned to these guys, it was election day, we're still counting votes in this state," Childress said, referencing the fact Wilf cares very much about that topic given its potential impact on the stadium situation. "I can't keep track of his schedule. When he's in, when he's out. He's here sometimes early in the week, sometimes in the middle of the week. Sometimes he's out a couple of times during the week. I don't have any sense. I just know that he came in and was able to chat with a few of our players and [had] good conversations."

Asked if he felt that Wilf remained supportive, Childress said: "My sense doesn't make any difference. You guys can speak to him on that. We've always communicated very well and I haven't seen any change in that."

Wilf has declined interview requests this week.

Expensive hits

Two Patriots were fined a total of $15,000 for separate hits on Brett Favre last Sunday, according to an NFL spokesman.

Gary Guyton was fined $7,500 for unnecessarily striking Favre in the head and neck area in the first quarter, and Myron Pryor was fined $7,500 for unnecessarily striking Favre in the head and neck area during the fourth quarter.

Favre had to leave the game and got 10 stitches in his chin after the Pyror hit. Guyton's hit drew a penalty flag but Pryor's did not.

Injury report

Cornerback Frank Walker (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Walker, who has been playing in the nickel defense at times, was injured in the fourth quarter last week.

Listed as probable for the Vikings are offensive lineman Chris DeGeare (ankle); cornerbacks Asher Allen (back), Chris Cook (quadriceps) and Lito Sheppard (broken hand); Favre (body); center John Sullivan (calf); and nose tackle Pat Williams (elbow).

For the Cardinals, linebacker Clark Haggans (groin) is doubtful. Running back Beanie Wells (knee) is questionable.

Purple pants!

The Vikings plan to wear their purple pants and jerseys on Sunday. It's believed to be the first time since the 2007 season that the team will wear all purple. The last time was Dec. 17, 2007 when the Vikings beat Chicago 20-13 at Mall of America Field.
