LONDON — Marion Bartoli of France on Saturday defeated Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-1, 6-4 to win the women's championship at Wimbledon.

Bartoli recovered from an early break to take the first set.

Bartoli lost her opening serve, finishing it with two double-faults. But the 15th-seeded Frenchwoman then won six straight games to seize control.

Bartoli also reached the final at the All England Club in 2007, but lost to Venus Williams in straight sets. Lisicki, a German seeded 23rd, was playing in her first major final.
