MILWAUKEE – No two players on Winthrop's basketball team celebrated more than the Broman brothers when they found out their first round NCAA tournament game would be in Milwaukee.

Anders and Bjorn Broman, natives of Duluth, Minn., immediately had their phones blow up with family and friends calling about wanting to see them play closer to home Thursday against Butler.

"When we got off the plane, everyone said they were freezing," Bjorn, a freshman guard, said. "We were like, 'We're home. We're back.'"

"When we got this assignment that we were going to Milwaukee, it felt great," said Anders, a junior guard. "We had a bunch of people calling us for tickets. It's just going to be a very fun game."

It was already a dream come true for the top two scorers in Minnesota high school basketball history to be playing Division I basketball together. They were prep teammates at Lakeview Christian Academy in Duluth.

Anders finished as the state's all-time leading scorer with 5,119 points in 2013. Bjorn averaged 49.6 points per game as a senior, but ended up ranking second with 4,135 career points in 2015.

Anders, who averages 8.3 points per game this season, started his career playing at South Dakota State for two seasons. He transferred to join his brother at Winthrop in South Carolina. Bjorn, who averages 5.5 points this season, played for the Howard Pulley AAU basketball team in the Twin Cities with current Gophers Amir Coffey and Jarvis Johnson.

"I've talked to them," Bjorn said. "I'm glad the Gophers are doing well. It would be a cool (second-round) matchup. But we got Butler first."
