The Belle Plaine Police Department issued a crime alert Saturday night seeking the public's help in finding a mother and her son. According to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Nichole Marie May, 29, was visiting her son, Nolen Joseph May-Schmitz, 5, during a court-ordered visitation appointment Saturday in Belle Plaine when she fled the visitation area with him.
May lives in Montgomery, Minn., and has relatives in South Dakota, according to the BCA. She fled in a 2000 Blue Pontiac Grand Prix, MN license 609-LRX, the agency said in its alert.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the tip line at 952-496-8423.
