Art Attack 2015

Friday-Sunday: Northeast Minneapolis' Northrup King Building will stage its 18th annual Art Attack this weekend. During the three-day fest, the building's 250 artists will open their studios to show and sell their most recent paintings, photos, pots, rugs and other high-style arts and crafts. In a nod to the 2015 rapprochement between the United States and Cuba, the building will host a special display of contemporary Cuban art. Curated by Cuban artist Ciro Quintana, "Resilencias, de otra Cuba!" will showcase art by more than a dozen internationally recognized Cuban talents who variously express their struggles, aspirations, humor and style. Quintana's own work is shown here. Other events include musical performances, mural painting, live poetry, and demonstrations of weaving, glassblowing, pottery, painting and more. Plus food trucks, of course. (5-10 p.m. Fri., noon-8 p.m. Sat., noon-5 p.m. Sun. Free. Northrup King Building, 1500 NE. Jackson St., Mpls. northrupkingbuilding.com.)
