A Delano man was killed Sunday night in an ATV accident in a residential area of Mayer.
The man, identified Monday by the Carver County Sheriff's Office as 53-year-old Neil Francis Zimmerman, was riding an ATV eastbound on 2nd Street NW. near Blue Jay Avenue in Mayer about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control and flipped the ATV, authorities said. Witnesses lifted the ATV off him, called emergency responders and provided first aid, but first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Zimmerman wasn't wearing a helmet, according to the Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident with the State Patrol.
