Free flu shots available at United Methodist on Oct. 5

A free flu shot clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at United Methodist Church of Peace, 6345 Xerxes Av. S. in Richfield.

No appointment is necessary. Children more than six months old and adults can receive shots. Pertussis, or whooping cough, vaccine also will be available for children.

The Bloomington Public Health Department will administer the vaccines.

Golden Valley

Candidates’ forum set for council race

The League of Women Voters Golden Valley is hosting a forum for candidates for the three City Council seats up for election Nov. 5.

The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Golden Valley City Hall council chambers, 7800 Golden Valley Rd.

There are nine candidates running for two four-year seats and two candidates running for a two-year seat.

Running for the two four-year terms are Larry Fonest, Simon Gottlieb, Bob Hernz, Greg Keivit, Chris Miller, Gillian Uecket Rosenquist, Paul David Schofield, Jacquelyn Smith and Andy Snope.

Running in a special election for the two-year term are Steven Schmidgall and John Giese.
