A 24-year-old St. Paul man was fatally shot Wednesday evening on the city's East Side.
Police were called to E. 3rd Street and Bates Avenue shortly after 6:30 p.m., spokesman John Keating said.
When officers arrived, they learned that the victim was at Regions Hospital, where he died. The victim had been outside near the intersection of 4th Street and Bates Avenue when he was shot, according to police.
No one has been arrested. It was St. Paul's fifth homicide of the year.
