NORTHFIELD

Organ recital series starts next week A series of noon organ concerts starts July 7 and continues into mid-August at locations around Northfield.

It's the fourth summer of the Noontime Organ Recital program, according to coordinator Richard Collman.

All will be presented on Wednesdays from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., except during the Vintage Band Festival, when recitals for organ and brass will be held on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6-7.

ā€¢ July 7: Richard Collman, organ, and Elinor Niemisto, harp. Northfield United Methodist Church, 1401 S. Maple St.

ā€¢ July 14: Andrew Schaeffer, St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 W. 3rd St.

ā€¢ July 21: Lawrence Archbold, Carleton College Music and Drama Center, 110 N. Winona St.

ā€¢ July 28: Sue Walby, Skinner Chapel, Carleton College, 405 E. 1st St.

ā€¢ Aug. 4: Dan Fenn, Boe Chapel, St. Olaf College.

ā€¢ Aug. 6 at 12:30 p.m.: Kentucky Baroque Trumpets and Organ, First Congregational Church, 300 Union St.

ā€¢ Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m.: Gargoyle Brass Ensemble with organ, First Congregational Church, 300 Union St.

ā€¢ Aug. 11: Mike and Susan Powell, Studio A, Christiansen Hall of Music, St. Olaf College.

Theater workshop to hold public shows Participants in the Northfield Arts Guild's Young People's Theater Workshop will stage a performance of some of their works this week.

The three-week daytime program is filled with classes in creative dramatics, dance and more. Participants write an original script, rehearse it and perform it. The public performances of these original works will be presented at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and at 10 a.m. Friday.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and students, and they are available at the door. All performances will be at ARTech School, 1719 Cannon Road, Northfield.

BLOOMINGTON

Artists sought for annual holiday sale Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) is looking for artists who would like to exhibit gift items for its annual holiday sale, "Gifts in the Gallery."

The juried sale will be held in the Inez Greenberg Gallery from Dec. 8-22. BTAC handles all sales and monitoring of the event, and artists are not required to staff their booths.
