Federal charges were filed Wednesday against a 35-year-old Burnsville man who was jailed after authorities found 12 pounds of meth, three guns and more than $16,000 in cash at his home, court documents said.

Albert M. Johnson was charged with possession with intent to distribute 500 or more grams of methamphetamine, distribution of 50 or more grams of meth, being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number.

Members of a drug task force searched Johnson's home on May 1 and found the drugs, weapons and money. Johnson's barbershop, Q&A Barbershop on Cliff Road in Burnsville, also was searched.

Johnson was charged earlier this month in Dakota County District Court with similar drug and weapons crimes. County Attorney Jim Backstrom said then that the state charges would be dismissed if and when federal charges were filed.

Johnson is still being held in the county jail on $1.5 million bail.
