Authorities on Friday identified a man who was shot several times and killed a day earlier in a north Minneapolis home.

Johnathon J. Harris, who turned 32 on Valentine's Day, lived about a mile southwest of where he was shot early Thursday in the home in the 2000 block of Hillside Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Police have announced no arrests in the killing, although one man was in custody for what police spokesman John Elder described as a secondary role in the death.

Elder added that the killing was "in no way, shape or form" random and appears to be connected to an earlier case. He declined to elaborate.

Trouble has followed Harris for most of his adult life. Hennepin County court records show he has been convicted three times on various weapons charges, twice for drug possession and once for fleeing police.

Anyone with any information about Harris' death is urged to call police at 612-692-8477.
