A Princeton man was killed late Friday afternoon when his car was rear-ended in a four-car pileup on Hwy. 10, just south of County Road 96 in Arden Hills.

Killed was David Eisen, 64, whose car was the first one rear-ended. Alone in his sedan, he was wearing a seat belt and his air bag deployed, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Seven other people in three vehicles reported no injuries. They all were belted in as well, the patrol said. They ranged in age from 29 to 63.

The pileup was reported at 4:36 p.m. in the westbound lane, which was shut down from Interstate 694 to I-35W until just before 8 p.m., according to the patrol. Ramsey County sheriff's deputies assisted troopers at the scene.

All four vehicles had been westbound on Hwy. 10 at the time of the collision, the patrol determined.

Two cars and a pickup truck were stopped in traffic on Hwy. 10 when another vehicle rear-ended Eisen's car, killing him and causing a chain-reaction accident with the two vehicles in front of him, the patrol said.

The car that hit Eisen's car was driven by Nicholas P. Anderson of Brainerd. The patrol said he was traveling at freeway speeds.

An accident reconstruction and investigation is underway.
