5:45 a.m. update: Flooding a major concern

Posted by: Tim Harlow Updated: June 19, 2014 - 5:46 AM

All morning we've heard about impressive rain totals, and with nowhere for the water to go it's collecting on the roads.

The worst is on Cedar Avenue near the Mall of America. Several inches of water have the road looking more like a lake than a highway.

Flooding also has Hwy. 169 under water in the Belle Plaine area and word is lanes are closed there.

Water has traffic slogging its way along westbound 494 at Pilot Knob Road and again ahead at Portland Avenue.

Look for standing water on Hwy. 280 in the area of Broadway Street and Hennepin Avenue.

On southbound 35E, it's a crash at Shepard Road that has traffic at a near standstill.

Word of the day: Caution.
