The American Public Transportation Association is encouraging commuters to leave the car at home today and use public transportation with its 8th annual Dump the Pump Day.

With the average price of a gallon of gas at $3.51 this morning, APTA says riding public transit is an economical way to save. The latest APTA Transit Savings Report shows that a two person household that downsizes to one car can save – on the average – more than $9,700 a year.
